Job summary

Cleantech Impact Partners Ltd seeks an experienced SC-cleared Cloud Engineer to build and operate secure cloud platforms supporting national security operations.

You will work with architects, security specialists and operations teams in London or Manchester on cutting-edge cloud, automation and IaC initiatives, contributing to mission-critical technology in a trusted defence context.

Qualifications

• Active SC clearance and sole UK national status.
• UK resident for a minimum of 5 years.
• Hands-on cloud engineering experience (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Comfortable working within secure, regulated environments.
• Defence, Intelligence, or wider public sector background desirable.

1. SC Cleared Cloud Engineer

We are working with a leading global IT and business consulting firm, deeply Embedded in UK Defence and National Security, to identify an experienced SC-cleared Cloud Engineer to join their defence team.

This isn't a Back Office IT role, you'll be building and operating secure cloud platforms that directly support national security operations, working alongside architects, security specialists and operations teams on complex, high-stakes environments most engineers never get near. You'll get exposure to cutting-edge cloud, automation and infrastructure-as-code work, on programmes where getting it right actually matters to the country.

Our client has an established track record spanning decades of delivering technology to UK Defence and intelligence agencies, with a genuine investment in growing its people, strong mentoring, clear routes into senior technical or leadership roles, and support to go deep into the areas you're most drawn to.

Essential:

• Active SC clearance
• UK resident for a minimum of 5 years
• Due to the secure nature of the role, candidates must be sole UK nationals
• Hands‑on cloud engineering experience (AWS, Azure or GCP), deployment, automation, or platform operations
• Comfortable working within secure, regulated environments

Desirable:

• Defence, Intelligence, or wider public sector background
• Infrastructure‑as‑code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
• Military transition candidates with hands‑on technical cloud experience
