Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced RF Communications Product Development Lead to join a high-profile satellite mission and take ownership of the development and delivery of critical RF subsystems throughout the full programme lifecycle.

The role is on-site in the UK with 3 days per week on site, requiring senior expertise in space-grade RF systems, requirements management, risk control, and supplier coordination to ensure successful delivery and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in satellite/space programmes is required.
• Knowledge of RF link budget analysis and EMC/E-field assessments is preferred.
• Familiarity with APQP and quality management processes is a plus.
• Experience managing subcontractors and external suppliers within complex programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development and delivery of spacecraft RF Communications products, ensuring performance, quality, cost and schedule objectives.
• Act as the technical and programme focal point for communications subsystem equipment, coordinating engineering teams, suppliers and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
• Manage product development activities, including planning, risk management, progress reporting and review milestones.
• Drive technical compliance with customer requirements, programme needs and industry standards.
• Lead design, qualification, manufacturing and test reviews, ensuring successful delivery of documentation and data packages.
• Oversee RF communications analyses, including link budgets and subsystem requirements management.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitoring performance, delivery schedules and contractual commitments.
• Support product assurance activities, including non-conformance management and acceptance processes.
