Job summary

Elsevier seeks a Salesforce Senior Developer to drive design and development of scalable Salesforce solutions and to act as the SME for the Salesforce stack. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact applications and digital experiences.

The role focuses on defining standards, ensuring stable deployments, and applying best practices across phased implementations with an emphasis on large integrations and Agile delivery. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field.
  • 6+ years of Salesforce development experience.
  • Salesforce certifications (Sales Cloud Consultant, Platform App Builder) preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ, Revenue Cloud, and Conga CLM preferred.
  • DevOps experience with Copado or Gearset preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as CRM trusted advisor across project phases from requirements to deployment.
  • Lead design, development and implementation; estimate work efforts per phase.
  • Provide domain expertise for complex projects and integrations.
  • Review code and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Support integration design, monitoring, and future requirements.

Aboutthe role:

The Salesforce Senior Developer acts as the Subject Matter Expert for the Salesforce technology stack; primary responsibilities include identification, documentation, and prioritization of business requirements, development of the application strategy needed to satisfy requirements, definition of the Salesforce standards and best practices for implementing solutions, and execution of required development throughout phased implementation. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that Elsevier has a functionally sound and stable Salesforce deployment, that the desired level of standardization of business processes is being achieved, that project risks and costs are reduced by leveraging standard solutions and Salesforce best practices, and that deep expertise is applied to ensure business objectives are met while minimizing business disruption.

  • Act as CRM trusted advisor in support of business unit projects through all phases of requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment; product demonstration and use-case modelling, business process development and related configuration, alignment and buy-in with stakeholders, direct support of business unit staff during launch, etc.

  • Estimate work efforts required for each phase of a project or ticket, direct responsibility for design, development, and implementation.

  • Provide product and technical expertise when scoping complex projects and related integrations.

  • Review code and solution summaries where appropriate to ensure adherence to best practices and fit-for-purpose development.

  • Integration monitoring, troubleshooting, and future integration requirement assessment, design, and development

  • Documentation and knowledge sharing; technical, business process, best practice, reference architecture, etc.

  • Applies advanced Salesforce technical principles and concepts; contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.

  • Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives; determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field

  • 6+ years of previous development experience with Salesforce

  • Salesforce Sales Cloud Consultant certification (preferred)

  • Development experience with Salesforce CPQ (preferred)

  • Development experience with Salesforce Revenue Cloud (preferred)

  • Development experience with Conga CLM (preferred)

  • Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator certification.

  • Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder certification

  • DevOps platform experience preferred (e.g., Copado, Gearset)

  • Experience with MuleSoft preferred (or other enterprise integration technologies)

  • Demonstrated success with at least one large Salesforce integration project.

  • Strong understanding of how to build and support highly scalable and reliable solutions on the Salesforce Platform

  • Experience working in Agile projects and managing workload with JIRA.

  • Proven ability to manage and resolve complex and ambiguous technical issues.

  • Technical project management experience

  • Understanding of UI design principles and best practices

  • Exceptional analytical skills and experience working with large-scale, complex datasets.

  • Communication skills for both technical and business audiences
