The Role
The Salesforce Senior Technical Developer / Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and implementation of enterprise-scale Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud within HMRC's highly regulated environment.
The individual will provide technical leadership to development teams, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing Salesforce solutions that align with HMRC governance, security, accessibility, and compliance requirements.
Primary Objectives
- Lead end-to-end Salesforce solution development and delivery.
- Design and develop scalable applications using Salesforce best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Salesforce developers.
- Build and support citizen-facing and partner-facing Experience Cloud portals.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC security, data protection, and accessibility standards.
- Design and implement integrations with internal and third-party systems.
- Drive DevOps, CI/CD, code quality, and release management practices.
- Support architectural decisions and contribute to solution design workshops.
Technical Design & Development
- Lead technical delivery of Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud.
- Develop custom solutions using:
- Apex
- Visualforce (where applicable)
- Flow Automation
- Design reusable components and framework-based solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
Experience Cloud Development
- Design and develop customer and partner portals using Salesforce Experience Cloud.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization models.
- Configure sharing rules, role hierarchies, and external user access.
- Develop branded digital experiences compliant with HMRC standards.

Technical Leadership
- Lead code reviews and enforce development standards.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level Salesforce developers.
- Participate in solution architecture reviews and design authority forums.
- Collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Scrum Teams.
DevOps & Release Management
- Git
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
- Manage deployment activities across Development, SIT, UAT, and Production environments.
