Job Description

White Label Recruitment is currently partnering with a well-established engineering company that is looking to hire a Sales Engineer with hands-on experience in their Mechanical Seals division. This role offers a hybrid of practical technical work and proactive business development and account management. They will also consider candidates who are transitioning from engineering roles into sales.

Overview

The position is ideal for someone with experience in mechanical seals and rotating equipment who enjoys both practical work and customer-facing sales. Responsibilities include identifying new business, managing key accounts, and owning the sales cycle from initial consultation to seal installation and after-sales support.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell sealing solutions: mechanical seals, hydraulic seals, packings, gaskets, and coatings.
  • Divide time between account management (40%) and business development (60%).
  • Identify, prospect, and convert leads into long-term customers.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as assessing pump or seal failures on-site, removing failed components, conducting analysis, and recommending replacements.
  • Produce technical failure analysis reports for clients.
  • Oversee installation of sealing solutions if necessary.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers across sectors like power, petrochemical, water, pulp and paper, and steel.
  • Liaise with clients at all levels, from engineers to decision-makers.
  • Support colleagues with quoting and sales processes.
  • Generate monthly reports on sales, market conditions, and forecasts.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

Personal Profile (Desirable Skills & Qualities)

  • Sales experience with strong technical knowledge and rapport-building skills.
  • Experience in similar roles or companies specializing in mechanical seals is advantageous.
  • Mechanical or engineering background, ideally with rotating equipment or seals.
  • Comfortable with practical tasks and commercial discussions.
  • Strong business development and prospecting skills.
  • Ability to analyze technical failures and create client-focused reports.
  • Effective communicator with interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
  • Full UK driving license or equivalent.
