Job summary

Pitkin & Ruddock Ltd in Hertfordshire is seeking a Technical Sales & Project Engineer. You will support sales and management, act as the technical sales presence in the region, and manage projects from enquiry to completion.

You will develop new opportunities across installation, service and maintenance; build relationships, advise on system design, and coordinate with engineers and subcontractors for high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical sales role within HVAC
• Knowledge of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning systems
• Flexible, self-motivated approach with customer focus
• Proven sales and project management experience
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple projects
• Full, clean UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Develop new and existing business across installation, service and maintenance agreements
• Advise on system design and select appropriate equipment for client needs

Job description

At Pitkin & Ruddock, we've been building trusted relationships and delivering high-quality air conditioning and refrigeration solutions for decades. Now, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Sales & Project Engineer to help drive the next stage of our growth within and around the Hertfordshire area.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, with your sound knowledge and experience in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning you'll play a key role in supporting our sales and management teams to deliver on our development strategy. You'll act as our technical sales presence in the region - generating new business, nurturing existing client relationships, and ensuring projects run smoothly from enquiry to completion.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Developing new and existing business opportunities across installation, service, and maintenance agreements
• Building strong customer relationships, advising on system design, and selecting the right equipment for their needs
• Managing the full project lifecycle - from initial enquiry to final handover
• Coordinating with engineers, sub-contractors, and colleagues to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery
• Monitoring quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction at every stage

What We're Looking For

• Experience in a technical sales role or similar position within the HVAC sector.
• Knowledge and experience of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning systems
• A flexible, self-motivated approach and a genuine passion for customer satisfaction
• Proven sales and project management experience
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted business relationships at all levels
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
• Excellent technical knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Competent IT skills (Mac and PC - Word, Excel); CAD experience is a bonus
• A solid understanding of Health & Safety within the construction industry
• Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities
• A full, clean UK driving licence
