Four Crosses Nursery LTD on the England-Wales border near Oswestry is seeking a full-time, on-site Sales Manager to lead growth of our trade accounts and boost sales across the nursery portfolio.

You will own ~100 trade accounts, quote inquiries quickly, develop new business including export opportunities, and work closely with production, office and despatch to fulfil orders and shape production planning.

Qualifications

• Experience in horticultural or nursery sales preferred.
• Proven ability to build lasting customer relationships with strong negotiation and closing skills.
• Self-motivated, well organised and able to manage multiple enquiries and orders.
• Confident working with stock lists, quotations and pricing; competent with business software.
• Effective communicator, able to work with production, office and despatch teams.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Four Crosses Nursery is a family-run wholesale nursery on the English/Welsh border near Oswestry. Established in 1989, we produce over 4 million container plants a year across 350 varieties, from 1L to 10L – including hedging, perennials, grasses and shrubs – supplying nurseries and cash-and-carries throughout the UK, with new retail markets now in our sights. We employ 40–50 people and have the capacity and the ambition to increase production by more than 50% over the next three years.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Sales Manager role based at the nursery in Four Crosses. We are seeking someone to take ownership of an established base of around 100 trade accounts and to lead the growth of our sales. Reporting directly to the owners, you will represent the nursery to our customers and to the wider industry, and will be expected to work on your own initiative and pursue sales growth with energy and ambition.

Day to day, you will manage and grow sales with existing customers; quote enquiries promptly, follow up and convert to orders; develop new business across the trade and retail sectors, including export opportunities; manage customer reserves and contract-grow agreements; produce the weekly availability and offers list, working with the stock control team; record pricing, market trends and competitor activity to identify new production opportunities; work closely with the production, office and despatch teams to ensure orders are fulfilled efficiently; and contribute to the production plan so that output reflects market demand.

Qualifications

• Experience in horticultural or nursery sales is strongly preferred; candidates with a strong B2B sales background and a genuine interest in plants will also be considered
• Proven ability to build lasting customer relationships, with strong negotiation and closing skills
• Self-motivated, well organised and attentive to detail, able to manage multiple enquiries and orders at once
• Confident working with stock lists, quotations and pricing, and competent with business software
• Effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with production, office and despatch colleagues
• Full UK driving licence, as the role includes customer visits and trade events
