Our client is a leading manufacturer of flow control / fluid handling components, renowned for engineering capabilities, quality, innovation, reliability, and performance. Products include valves, pumps, actuators, rotating equipment, motors. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a leading manufacturing company with succession planning towards General Management or Sales Director roles. They serve major industrial OEMs, distribution, chemicals, oil and gas, Petrochem, water, wastewater treatment, food and beverage, anaerobic digestion, etc. They are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Sales Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit aiming to step into General Management. You will assume full responsibility for the Yorkshire site and the UK market.

The Role

This position requires a dynamic leader with proven sales management, General Management, or Commercial Management experience, ideally within the flow control or related industry, capable of fostering a high-performance sales culture. They will consider ambitious industrial/engineering sales leaders with a mechanical mindset.

  • Manage the UK business, P&L, etc.
  • Drive UK sales and hire a sales professional to grow multimillion-pound profitable sales.
  • Develop and enhance the technical and core competencies of the internal team.
  • Improve internal sales efficiency by prioritising large opportunities, developing house accounts, and expanding spares and after-sales support.
  • Enhance sales funnel management for highly technical RFQs, high-value opportunities, margin challenges, and spares processes.
  • Handle large, complex enquiries, collaborating internally and externally to improve conversion rates.
  • Support customer service, spares processes, and order management.
  • Work with marketing to improve customer engagement.
  • Achieve sales targets.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities.
Leadership
  • Recruit, train, and manage the customer service/technical team.
  • Set performance expectations and provide coaching and development.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external sales to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor KPIs and conduct performance reviews.
Sales Forecasting and Reporting
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and reports.
  • Ensure timely reporting of sales activities.
The Person
  • Proven success in sales leadership, preferably in fluid handling or flow control industries.
  • DYNAMIC, entrepreneurial, ambitious attitude.
  • Experience in sales strategy development and implementation.
  • Strong industry contacts and market understanding.
  • Experience in managing high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship skills.
  • Financial acumen with budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Desired Skills:
  • Experience as a Sales Manager/General Manager or engineering leadership role.
  • CRM management skills.
  • Market research and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of performance reporting and budgeting.
  • Strategic mindset and commercial awareness.

  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification (BTEC HNC or equivalent).

  • Ability to review technical and commercial specifications.
  • Equipment selection skills for bespoke fluid handling packages.
  • Full clean driving license.
