Job summary

Astute Recruitment are working with an established business in Derby to recruit a Sales Ledger Clerk on a permanent basis. The role focuses on invoicing, cash allocation, customer enquiries and maintaining accurate ledger records.

Ideal candidates will have Sales Ledger/Accounts Receivable experience with strong attention to detail and be proficient in Xero. Credit checks via CreditSafe and collaboration with the finance team are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in Sales Ledger/Accounts Receivable or similar finance role.
• Xero experience is essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident communicator with good problem-solving ability.
• Positive, proactive in a busy office environment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a finance team.

Responsibilities

• Manage invoicing and ensure entries are accurate.
• Allocate cash and reconcile incoming payments.
• Handle customer queries professionally and promptly.
• Assist with debt chasing, minimal due to on-time payments.
• Carry out credit checks on new customers using CreditSafe.
• Maintain accurate sales ledger records.
• Collaborate with the wider finance team.
• Support general finance duties as required.

The Role Will Involve:

• Managing sales invoicing and ensuring entries are accurate
• Allocating cash and reconciling incoming payments
• Handling customer queries professionally and promptly
• Supporting with debt chasing, although this is minimal as the majority of customers pay on time
• Carrying out credit checks on new customers using CreditSafe
• Maintaining accurate sales ledger records
• Working closely with the wider finance team
• Supporting with general finance duties where required

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience within a Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable or similar finance role
• Previous Xero experience is essential
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Confident communicator with good problem-solving ability
• Positive and proactive approach to working in a busy office environment
• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a wider finance team

Benefits & Hours:

• Salary: Up to 30,000 depending on experience
• 4-day working week with full-time salary
• Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with a 30-minute lunch
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
