Sharp Consultancy is supporting a family-run engineering business in Barnsley to hire a Sales Ledger Clerk. You will manage day-to-day sales ledger activities, ensure customer accounts are accurate, and allocate payments promptly.

You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the sales ledger, making sure customer accounts are accurate, payments are allocated correctly and queries are dealt with promptly.
Managing the sales ledger from invoice through to payment
Raising and processing sales invoices and credit notes
Allocating customer payments
Reconciling customer accounts
Monitoring outstanding debt and supporting credit control activity
Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
Liaising with customers and internal departments
Assisting with month-end processes
Keeping financial records accurate and up to date
Taking ownership of your workload and ensuring deadlines are met
Previous experience within Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or a similar finance role
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Confidence managing your own workload and working with autonomy
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Comfortable speaking with customers and resolving queries
Good Excel and general IT skills
A proactive approach — someone who will take ownership and get things done
