We are seeking a dynamic, proactive, and experienced technical sales engineer with demonstrable automation and robotic systems experience. The role involves new business development and account management activities.

Our client has nearly fifty years of expertise in designing, developing, and manufacturing bespoke automation and robotic systems for various industries. They are considered one of the leading automation system providers in the UK. Due to ongoing success and strategic growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Sales Engineer to join their business development team, focusing on developing mutually beneficial relationships through automation and robotic solution sales.

As a Sales Engineer, you will liaise extensively with internal and external customers to develop a sales pipeline with both new and existing clients, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will handle enquiries promptly to ensure project success and meet sales targets.

Reporting to the Sales Director, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Visiting customer sites to understand their requirements and provide support
  2. Creating and maintaining sales analysis sheets for each enquiry
  3. Reporting enquiry results in weekly sales meetings and providing insight into future market demands
  4. Supporting quotations with concept ideas and creating costing sheets
  5. Preparing financially viable and beneficial quotations, reviewing internally before submission
  6. Understanding budget and timescale requirements for enquiries
  7. Maintaining regular communication with customers throughout the enquiry process
  8. Organizing sales handover meetings to transfer order details to the technical team
  9. Supporting project reviews and sign-off events with the project team

The ideal candidate will have previous sales experience with automation systems, preferably within automotive, medical, healthcare, plastics, or FMCG sectors. Qualifications should include at least an HND or higher in an engineering or business discipline. The candidate should be self-motivated, organized, possess excellent communication skills, and be willing to travel within the UK and internationally as needed.
