Job summary

Talent Media Ltd in Dumbarton is seeking a Sales Engineer for its Aftermarket & Proposals team. You’ll respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and proposals, and help convert opportunities into orders.

The role requires an engineering background with technical sales experience and an HNC or equivalent. You’ll review drawings, build relationships with customers, and identify aftermarket opportunities. 37 hours per week; up to 38k DOE; 27 days’ annual leave plus 8 holidays; company pension.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with technical sales experience.
• HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering.
• Ability to review technical information and engineering drawings.
• Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness, attention to detail and proactive approach.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience supporting business development or marketing is useful.

Responsibilities

Talent Media is delighted to partner with an established engineering business to recruit a Sales Engineer for its Aftermarket & Proposals team.

What you’ll be doing

• Responding to new enquiries and requests for revised quotations.
• Reviewing customer requirements and preparing quotes, proposals and tenders.
• Following up proposals to help convert opportunities into orders.
• Building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts.
• Understanding engineering drawings and working with internal teams to resolve technical and commercial queries.
• Coordinating order handovers and sharing updates with colleagues across the business.
• Identifying opportunities to recommend aftermarket parts, retrofits, upgrades, and other relevant solutions.

What we’re looking for

• An engineering background with technical sales experience.
• An HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Confidence reviewing technical information and engineering drawings.
• Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness, attention to detail and a proactive approach.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience supporting business development or marketing activity would be useful.
