The Opportunity

There is an exciting opportunity to join our Business Development and Sales team providing world-leading RF Countermeasure (RFCM) solutions, to new and existing UK, US, and International customers. This area of the business is growing quickly, and you would be joining the team at an extremely exciting time.

The role can be located at any Leonardo site; we are open to discuss flexibility, part-time working, and what that means to you. The core RFCM development team is based at our Luton site.

Job Description

The roleholder will be responsible for BriteCloud and EW Payloads sales campaigns for NATO and the Middle-East. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of both the UK and international defence and aerospace markets. They should understand the critical importance of EW in coalition operations. The role includes considerable external engagement with platform operators, commercial partners, mission data integrators, and end users. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be credible when engaging with customers to help shape and influence requirements. Leadership qualities are essential when dealing with internal stakeholders and supporting Integrated Campaign teams.

Additionally, the successful candidate will present detailed prospects to Business Winning Reviews to secure pursuit, bid, and resourcing approvals. They will develop bespoke win strategies, write proposals, and assist in preparing private venture investment cases for new capabilities. They must be comfortable conducting market and competitor analysis.

What matters most is your strong desire to understand and meet customer requirements, demonstrating flexibility and agility to meet those needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Secure order intake to meet forecast targets by managing a portfolio of campaigns and opportunities.
  • Work closely with Integrated Campaign Teams and across the company to lead/support bid activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, end users, and industrial partners.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including International Marketing, Capability, Sector IPTs, and others.
  • Use internal procedures to identify, track, and report opportunities to senior management.
  • Manage and utilize the Leonardo Business Winning process effectively.
  • Support communications events like exhibitions, demonstrations, and conferences.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant sector experience and commercial knowledge, especially of EW and Air platforms.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to set and achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Innovative thinker capable of overcoming problems in a complex international sales environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for briefing senior stakeholders across industry, government, and military.
  • Experience in negotiating and closing complex international deals is preferred.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on achieving ambitious targets.
  • Experience in managing key sales or strategic campaigns within defence or similar sectors.
  • Knowledge of trade compliance and export control regulations.
  • Ability to write compelling proposals and marketing content.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, capable of leading teams under pressure.
  • Willingness to work under tight deadlines and travel frequently, including overseas visits.
