Job summary

gtd healthcare is recruiting a Salaried Urgent Care Doctor for Preston & Chorley, with 22:00–08:00 night shifts included in a 24/7 urgent care service. The post offers full-time or part-time hours with a generous salary and enhancements for out-of-hours work.

Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in A&E, with duties spanning face-to-face care, referrals, and collaboration with clinical leads. A commitment to high-quality patient care is essential.

Responsibilities

Salaried Urgent Care Doctor - Preston & Chorley

Salaried Urgent Care Doctor £96,926 to £107,903 per annum (Additional rate enhancements apply for evening, weekend and overnight working).

gtd healthcare is one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent care providers in North West England. We are looking for dedicated and proactive Salaried Urgent Care Doctors to work within our urgent care services at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley Hospital.

We are recruiting for both full time and part time hours with a minimum of 12 hours per week across Monday to Sunday for overnight working from 22:00 to 08:00. Our services operate 24/7 providing vital patient care.

As part of the medical gtd healthcare team, you will deliver urgent primary medical care in line with current evidence based best practice during both the out of hours and in hours periods (dependent on the service area and contractual requirements). This will be face to face assessment in a range of treatment locations. This post may develop to include telephone triage and home visits dependent on the post holders development needs.

Main duties of the job

• Provide timely clinical care to gtd healthcare urgent care patients in the form of advice or face to face consultation whilst on shift.
• To ensure that where appropriate, the patient is referred for further management with the relevant service, e.g. secondary care specialties, community services.
• To proactively communicate with the Clinical Shift Leads and Senior Care Co-ordinators to ensure the smooth running of the shift.
• To be responsible for prioritization and timeliness of all consultations assigned to the shift.
• Work with colleagues to maximize effective and efficient delivery of care to patients.
• To work within the prescribing formulary, taking account of the minimum length of prescribed treatment.
• Provide clinical advice to both internal and external other staff as required (e.g. Clinical Shift Lead, Senior Care Co-ordinator, Triage Nurses, other GPs, District Nurses).
• Represent gtd healthcare in a professional manner when in contact with the general public and other professionals.
• Support locally developed urgent care pathways and community alternatives to admission, e.g. DVT service, alternative to transfer (ATT/PATS) scheme with NWAS.
• To support streaming of patients to or from co-located A&E services.
• On call shifts (optional): Doctors on call are expected to respond to phone requests within 5 minutes of call and to be able to attend at any of our centres within 1 hr.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Hold full GMC Registration with a current license to practice and without any current restrictions/undertakings.

Experience

• An up to date understanding of modern primary care and its delivery in an OOH/urgent care setting.

• Has an understanding of local services, pathways and OOH services and Integrated Urgent Care.
