Job summary

Lift Maltings in Witham, Essex hosts an office-based physics teacher training programme in partnership with Ark Teacher Training and Lift Schools. Trainees work as unqualified physics teachers while earning a salary and studying for a PGCE and QTS.

The programme runs for one year full-time, includes two-week Summer School in August 2027, and combines classroom practice with mentoring, weekly training, and national peer support across Lift Schools’ network.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with 2:2 or above by start of programme.
• Degree in Physics, STEM or related field preferred.
• GCSEs: English & Maths at least grade 4/C or equivalent.
• Must not currently hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Responsibilities

• Gain practical classroom experience as you train.
• Receive ongoing mentoring from experienced teachers.
• Attend targeted weekly training sessions.
• Participate in Summer School to prepare for training year.
• Graduate with PGCE and QTS qualifications.
