Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a salaried GP for a university-based practice comprising five GPs and a wider team. The post involves 4 to 6 sessions per week focusing on caring for registered and temporary patients through consultations, on-call duties, repeat prescribing and QoF targets.

The role welcomes both experienced and newly qualified doctors and offers an opportunity to shape new processes. GMC registration, Performers List inclusion and enhanced DBS check are required.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• GMC registration.
• Inclusion on the Performers List.
• MPS, MDUS or MDDUS membership.
• Experience working in a GP practice or on a GP training scheme.
• Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload and meet a wide range of primary care health needs for registered and temporary patients.
• Carry out surgery and telephone consultations, on-call duties and occasional visits per the agreed timetable.
• Make autonomous clinical decisions on presenting problems, including undifferentiated and undiagnosed ones.
• Prescribe in line with the practice formulary, generically where clinically appropriate.
• Compile, check and sign acute and repeat prescriptions, including EPR sign-off.
• Screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, and develop care plans.
• Provide counselling and health education.
• Admit and discharge patients to and from the caseload, and refer onward as appropriate.
• Record clear, contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Complete medical reports, paperwork and correspondence in a timely way.
• Contribute to QoF and to local or national initiatives the practice takes part in.
• Contribute to audit, clinical standard setting, patient record development and Read-coding.
