Job summary

Norwood Surgery is seeking a Salaried GP to join a team of 3 partners, 4 salaried GPs and 3 nurses serving around 10,000 patients. The role covers surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, repeat prescribing, care plans and referrals.

It is a training practice with a focus on social prescribing and lifestyle medicine, offering 6–8 sessions per week. A CCT in General Practice plus DBS and occupational health clearance are required.

Qualifications

• CCT in General Practice.
• Experience of audit and leading audit programmes.
• Experience with clinical risk management.
• Experience leading projects with CQC, CCG and QOF.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Strong IT skills, including EMIS Web, Outlook and Office.

Responsibilities

• Surgery and telephone consultations, plus home visits, in line with the practice timetable.
• Managing a caseload covering a wide range of health needs in primary care.
• Making autonomous clinical decisions on presenting problems, including self-referrals and referrals from other staff.
• Assessing undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and screening for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• Developing care plans in line with practice disease management protocols.
• Compiling computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing from the formulary where clinically appropriate.
• Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing promptly with queries, paperwork and correspondence.
• Admitting and discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers.
• Providing counselling and health education.
• Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Collecting audit data and contributing to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting.
• Contributing to computer-based patient records, including summarising records and Read-coding.
