Job summary

Kings Surgery in Port Talbot is seeking a salaried GP on a one-year contract, four sessions across Monday and Tuesday at the Port Talbot Resource Centre on Baglan Moors. The core of the work is face-to-face and triage consultations, prescribing, on-call duty and clearing results and correspondence.

The practice serves about 6,500 patients alongside two partners, a Physician Associate and practice nurses, and runs paper-light on EMIS.

Qualifications

• Qualified GP with GMC registration in the UK.
• MRCGP or equivalent level of postgraduate training.
• CCT as General Practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Triage and face-to-face consultations.
• Electronic prescribing (EPS) and repeat prescriptions.
• On-call duties as part of the partnership.
• Covering partners and managing workload during leave.
• Record contemporaneous IT-based consultation notes.

What the job involves

• Triage and face-to-face consultations
• Electronic prescribing (EPS), including checking and signing repeat prescriptions
• Prescribing within locally agreed guidelines
• All general GP duties
• On-call duties when requested by the partnership
• Covering partners and sharing cover for doctors on leave
• Dealing with workflow queries, blood results, medical reports, referral letters and correspondence by the end of the working week
• Taking an equitable share of queries and workload from the wider MDT
• Making autonomous clinical decisions on self-referred patients and those referred by MDT colleagues
• Recording contemporaneous IT-based consultation notes to agreed standards
