Moretonhampstead Health Centre, Dartmoor

We are looking for a 2-3 session salaried GP to join our small, traditional, patient-centred, rural practice. The successful applicant will share a list with our existing salaried GP.

Moretonhampstead is a thriving moorland town, with a close-knit community. The practice sits firmly within the town and is embedded in it, with close links to local health, wellbeing and transport groups. Our patch stretches across a beautiful piece of nationally important moorland and surrounding villages and hamlets.

We are a hardworking team who care about the people we serve. We hold ourselves to high standards currently having an outstanding CQC rating. The practice comprises two GP partners, one salaried GP, a skilled nursing team and an experienced management and admin team, looking after 3,400 patients. We have been a training practice for 10 yrs and also host medical students from Exeter Medical School.

We are part of North Dartmoor PCN, which gives us good access to ARRS colleagues including a clinical pharmacist, first contact physiotherapist and specialist nurse. Our admin team are all trained in signposting and social prescribing work.

The recent 2026 GP Patient Survey put us:

• 2nd in Devon for overall experience — 99.4% rate it as good, which is 14th out of 6,146 practices in England
• 2nd in Devon for continuity — 95% of our patients see the clinician they ask for, always or nearly always. Nationally that figure is 42%
• 100% said the clinician they saw was good at listening, 100% had confidence and trust in them, and 100% found our reception team helpful

We think this is a great place to work and are looking for someone to share our enthusiasm and who would value being part of our close-knit team. It should be noted that due to the size of the practice occasional lone working is necessary which you would need to be comfortable with. There will also be opportunities for internal locum work.

Salary depends on experience and responsibilities. The post starts as a rolling six-month fixed term; we hope funding will continue beyond that but this also allows you and the practice to see if rural general practice is the right fit.
