Job summary

Oakridge Park Medical Centre in Milton Keynes is seeking a compassionate GP to join a friendly team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027, with potential extension. Flexible sessions: 4–8 per week, part-time or full-time to suit preference.

You will deliver high-quality patient-centred care, perform face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, and contribute to QOF and service development within a supportive practice network.

Qualifications

• Qualified GP with MRCGP and CCT or equivalent, with full GMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across face-to-face, telephone and online models.

Oakridge Park Medical Centre is seeking a compassionate and motivated GP to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and can work confidently and effectively in a busy primary care environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established and forward-thinking practice serving a growing patient population in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent clinical care while contributing to the ongoing development of the practice and wider Primary Care Network.

This role is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027, with the potential for extension, subject to funding and service requirements. Immediate start date is preferred.

Sessions: Part-time or full-time (4-8 sessions per week, depending on preference)

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to the practice population through face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, prescribing safely and effectively, reviewing and actioning clinical correspondence and test results, maintaining accurate clinical records, and undertaking home visits where appropriate.

The role also involves supporting patients with long-term conditions, managing referrals, contributing to quality improvement and clinical governance activities, achieving QOF and Enhanced Service objectives, and working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. In addition, the post holder will participate in continuing professional development.

Main Duties of the Role

• The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Clinical Responsibilities
• Delivering high-quality, evidence-based medical care to the registered practice population.
• Undertaking face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations.
• Assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Prescribing safely and effectively in accordance with NHS and local guidelines.
• Reviewing and actioning test results, hospital correspondence, and clinical documentation promptly.
• Undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using SystmOne.
• Participating in care planning and health promotion activities for patients with long-term conditions.
• Managing referrals and associated clinical administration in a timely manner.
• Quality and Governance
• Supporting the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and Enhanced Service targets.
• Participating in clinical audits, significant event reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Promoting evidence-based practice throughout the organisation.
• Maintaining a strong awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant NHS and practice policies, including infection prevention, confidentiality, and information governance.

Qualifications

• Qualified General Practitioner with MRCGP and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the NHS England National Performers List.
• Appropriate medical defence indemnity (MPS, MDU, or equivalent.
• Evidence of current appraisal and revalidation.
• Eligibility to work independently in the UK
• Experience working within a UK primary care environment.
• Experience of QOF, clinical audit, and quality improvement activities.
• Knowledge of medicines management and prescribing governance.
• Understanding of Integrated Care Board (ICB) initiatives and primary care services.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills appropriate to an experienced GP.
• Experience using SystmOne.
• Participation in quality improvement or leadership activities.
• Experience of working within General Practice.
• Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Excellent consultation, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Understanding of QOF and primary care contractual requirements.
