Job summary

Unite Group is hiring a Student Safety Team Member for Unite Students in Loughborough to work nights, 22:00–07:00, 4 out of 7. You’ll patrol buildings, support students, and handle safety handovers with the team.

No fixed career path is required; mindset and people skills matter most as you build a welcoming, safe environment. Responsibilities include incident response, maintaining order, and helping students feel cared for.

Qualifications

• Friendly face and first point of contact for students overnight.
• Calm under pressure when responding to incidents or emergencies.
• Experience in a customer service or residential environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a friendly face and first point of contact for students who need support or reassurance overnight.
• Keep buildings and everyone in them safe, responding calmly to incidents or emergencies such as fire alarms, noise complaints, or maintenance issues.
• Help students feel welcome, respected, and cared for - always treating everyone with empathy and professionalism.
• Work closely with day and night teams to ensure seamless service and handovers.
• Take pride in maintaining tidy, safe, and well-kept spaces.
• Support wellbeing or welfare matters, noticing when something isn’t right and taking action to help.
• Be a brand ambassador, living our CARE principles: Connect, Act, Respect, and Encourage.

Working hours: 22.00-07.00 working 4 out of 7

As a Student Safety Team Member, you`ll play a key part in keeping our students and buildings safe, comfortable, and welcoming throughout the night. You`ll be the reassuring presence that helps students feel supported, cared for, and at home. You`ll work closely with Student Safety Team Leader and your peers across the cluster, making a real impact every day. Every shift brings something different from doing safety patrols and updating Excel handovers, to responding to emails or supporting a student who needs help in the early hours. It`s a role where you`ll stay calm under pressure, connect with people, and make a real difference every night.
