Responsibilities

Our Life Safety and Security engineering team is central to our business. Our engineers are multi-skilled across various technologies and products, with extensive knowledge developed over many years. Customer service and delivering high-quality engineering are core to their roles. This position includes mentored training and development opportunities, with potential for future growth and succession planning.

  • Install, commission, and service a wide range of field equipment, including fire and intruder alarm systems, CCTV, access control, audio-visual, and public address & voice alarm systems.
  • Perform retrofit upgrades and extensions to existing systems as part of remedial works.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Interpret site plans based on survey documentation to facilitate installations.
  • Respond to reactive site call-outs, aiming for first-time fix.
  • Offer on-site technical support and solutions during reactive and planned visits.
  • Complete documentation adhering to company standards.
  • Work within strict health and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.
  • Advise customers on the latest products and services to improve efficiency.
Qualifications

For development purposes, the following knowledge, skills, and experience are required:

Experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Flexible and self-motivated.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • DBS clearance (for public sector environments).
Skills
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Technical expertise in relevant areas.
  • Competent administrative skills and familiarity with internal business systems.
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of system design and pricing.
  • Service-oriented with the ability to handle installation tasks when needed.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team player and relationship builder.
  • Experience with BAFE/SSAIB/NSI accredited companies.
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card.
  • Certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness.
  • Recent electrical qualifications.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard manufacturers (e.g., Bosch, Dahua, Hikvision, etc.).
  • Preference for candidates with Gallagher Access Control skills.
