Position Details:
THIS IS A 1ST & 2ND SHIFT POSITION. The employee works two 12-hour shifts per week as a dispatcher (7 AM to 7 PM), and two 8-hour shifts per week as a safety officer (3 PM to 11 PM). The position requires working every-other weekend on a rotating basis. Dispatcher duties include answering phones, assisting customers at the dispatch window, coordinating radio transmissions between employees, and maintaining a log of all Safety interventions. The safety officer responsibilities include patrolling campus, responding to calls, assisting with lockouts, providing safe ride services, investigating crimes, and building positive relationships with members of the Messiah University community.
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required:
None.
Experience Preferred:
1 year of experience in a customer service position, preferably within an educational setting.

Special Working Conditions:
Must have the ability to mentally and physically perform essential job functions which require walking, prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting (40lbs) and endure various weather conditions. Willingness to work different shifts, work weekends and holidays, some mandatory overtime required for special events; submit to Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation of such. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay.
Driving Requirements:
This position requires the operation of a Messiah College owned or leased vehicle and the employee must possess and maintain a current driver’s license, meet the established criteria, and abide by all policies and procedures as presented in the College’s Fleet Vehicle Use Policy.
