Recruitment Consultant | Specialist in Aerospace and Defence

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a person to join a specialist defence organisation to assist with the leadership and delivery of safety engineering outputs across complex engineering projects - this is not a construction safety role.

This role performs the duties of managing system safety deliverables, guiding a team of safety engineers, and reports to the Chief Systems Engineer on each project and the Department Head of Safety and Reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support the delivery of safety engineering tasks across multiple programmes
• Lead and support engineers in producing Hazard Analyses, Safety Case Reports, Functional Failure Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety requirements are met to time and quality
• Influence technical solutions to optimise system safety and compliance within practical time and cost constraints
• Construct convincing safety cases and determine the most effective evidence required to demonstrate mitigation of identified hazards
• Act as a mentor for junior team members, ensuring appropriate skill development and task alignment
• Balance safety objectives against the critical performance attributes of missile systems
• Support safety integration within systems engineering and certification processes

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven leadership in safety engineering, with strong interpersonal and team management skills
• In-depth knowledge of UK and international system safety standards, particularly Def Stan 00-056
• Experience generating safety documentation and safety cases to a high standard
• A strong interest in mentoring and developing junior engineers across multiple projects
• Understanding of how safety engineering fits within broader systems engineering processes
• Knowledge of complex electronic systems, though experience in other engineering disciplines will be considered
• Excellent planning, organisational, and delegation skills
• Strong analytical thinking, written communication, and problem-solving capabilities
• Ideally degree-qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline
