Job summary

Great Western Railway (GWR) is seeking an experienced Head of Safety Management to lead a team of safety professionals and shape a learning-focused safety culture across the network.

You will provide strategic leadership, drive safety performance, oversee investigations and continually improve our Safety Management System, ensuring colleagues and customers travel safely.

37 hour week with flexible location based on the GWR network; regular travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Experienced health and safety leader with a strong operational background.
• Ability to influence, challenge and inspire at all levels.
• Experience leading safety improvement programmes.
• Passion for developing people and building a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Safety Managers and specialist safety professionals.
• Provide strategic leadership and expert advice across the business.
• Drive safety performance, support investigations and continually improve the Safety Management System.
