Job summary

Great Western Railway (GWR) is seeking an experienced Head of Safety Management to lead a team of safety professionals and shape a learning-focused safety culture across the network.

You will provide strategic leadership, drive safety performance, oversee investigations and continually improve our Safety Management System, ensuring colleagues and customers travel safely.

37 hour week with flexible location based on the GWR network; regular travel is expected.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced safety leader to join our Safety & Environment team as Head of Safety Management.

Leading a team of Safety Managers and specialist safety professionals, you'll provide strategic leadership and expert advice across the business, helping to create a positive, learning-focused culture where people go home safe every day.

You'll work closely with senior leaders to drive safety performance, support investigations and continually improve our Safety Management System.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is an experienced health and safety leader with a strong operational background.
• Holds a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
• Can influence, challenge and inspire at all levels.
• Has experience leading safety improvement programmes.
• Is passionate about developing people and building a strong safety culture.

Working Pattern:

37 hour working week – Monday to Friday
