Event and matchday working, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, will be required when needed.

Who We Are

Manchester City is a football club rooted in East Manchester, with a story that began in 1880 and continues to grow today. Built on resilience, belief and togetherness, success on the pitch is driven by the moments and memories shared with millions of Fans around the world. City is known for its bravery, its determination to the very end and its strong connection to where we come from. With Mancunian roots and a global outlook, we are shaped by our Fans and driven by a long-term vision, from developing future talent to supporting the communities we call home. Together, we are creating the next chapter, the City way.

Our Safety and Security team supports the safe operation of the Etihad Campus and City Football Academy across matchdays, events and day-to-day activity. Working with colleagues across Manchester City, the team helps create an environment where people can enjoy football and other events with confidence, while ensuring operational decisions are well planned, compliant and responsive to changing circumstances.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Safety and Security, you will help plan, manage and assure safety and security operations for fixtures and events at the Etihad Stadium and, where required, the Joie Stadium. Acting as a Safety Officer or Deputy Safety Officer when needed, you will make practical operational decisions that help protect everyone on site and support a positive experience for spectators, staff and event partners.

You will work with the Head of Safety and Security and other Safety and Security Managers to assess risk, prepare operational orders, event briefings and risk assessments, and ensure arrangements meet the General Safety Certificate, relevant legislation, guidance and Club policies. You will also support event resource planning, including the recruitment, training, deployment and welfare of employees, casual workers and agency personnel.

The role involves close collaboration with teams across the Campus and, where appropriate, external partners so that safety and security arrangements are aligned and delivered consistently. You will contribute to a positive safeguarding culture, ensuring concerns relating to children, vulnerable adults, women and girls are escalated promptly and managed in line with Club policies and statutory guidance.

  • The ability to evaluate operational risks, provide informed advice and identify practical solutions.
  • Experience in developing and delivering detailed operational plans and briefings, ideally in a sporting or event environment.
  • Clear organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and work flexibly across event and matchday schedules.
