Job summary

St Bede's Catholic Voluntary Academy in England is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Officer to join our school community. Working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will help safeguard students, coordinate support for families, and maintain confidential records to ensure wellbeing and best outcomes.

This role requires calm, resilient and compassionate practice, strong knowledge of safeguarding policy, and excellent communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding or pastoral role, ideally in a secondary setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures.
• Calm, resilient and compassionate when supporting young people and families.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to making a positive difference to children's lives.

Responsibilities

• Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding and child protection concerns.
• Act as a key point of contact for students, families and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.
• Lead intervention programmes and provide pastoral support.
• Promote a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
• Work collaboratively with staff and partners to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
