Job summary

Lift Bexleyheath is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to support the safety, welfare and protection of students. You will report to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, manage live concerns, deliver pastoral care and collaborate with external agencies to safeguard every pupil.

Working with SEND students and EHCPs, you will maintain robust records, advise staff on safeguarding strategies, and help design targeted interventions in a busy secondary school environment near London.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and interacting with external agencies to make formal referrals.
• Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and restorative practice techniques.
• Ability to advise staff on safeguarding strategies.

Responsibilities

• Safeguarding & Pastoral Support: Implement safeguarding procedures, respond to daily live concerns, design targeted student interventions, and offer pastoral care to vulnerable students.
• Record Management: Maintain precise safeguarding records on systems and monitor staff safeguarding training.
• Stakeholder & Multi-Agency Collaboration: Build relationships with parents/carers and work with local authority children's social care, police, and health services, including attending inter-agency meetings.
• Staff Training & Guidance: Ensure all staff and volunteers understand child protection policies and are supported when safeguarding concerns arise.
