Job summary

Ernulf Academy is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Manager to lead welfare, safety and wellbeing of all scholars. You will work with the DSL, senior leaders, and external agencies to ensure safeguarding practices are robust, effective, and responsive to pupils' needs.

You will promote a strong safeguarding culture, support vulnerable scholars, maintain confidential records, deliver staff training, and contribute to academy operations and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have safeguarding experience and a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Resilient, compassionate, highly organised, and committed to ensuring every scholar receives support.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding and child protection processes - Manage safeguarding concerns, referrals, and records, ensuring all actions are timely, compliant, and child-centred.
• Support vulnerable scholars and families - Work directly with children, families, and external agencies to remove barriers and improve outcomes.
• Manage safeguarding records and reporting - Maintain accurate, confidential records and provide updates, reports, and analysis to academy leaders.
• Build effective multi-agency relationships - Liaise with social care, health services, local authorities, and other partners to coordinate support for scholars.
• Promote attendance, wellbeing and inclusion - Support initiatives that improve attendance, engagement, wellbeing, and the safeguarding culture across the academy.
• Train and support staff - Provide guidance, advice, and safeguarding awareness to colleagues, helping ensure statutory responsibilities are understood and fulfilled.
• Contribute to academy operations and compliance - Support safeguarding audits, policy implementation, statutory returns, and the continuous development of safeguarding practice across the academy.
