Job summary

CHS South is seeking a Safeguarding Officer to join our team on a 35-hour-per-week basis. This Grade 6, permanent post supports learners by promoting attendance, safeguarding their wellbeing, and addressing welfare concerns in collaboration with families and external agencies.

The role requires experience in attendance, safeguarding, pastoral support, or similar, a good understanding of safeguarding practices, excellent communication, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track learner attendance and punctuality.
• Identify and address attendance concerns through appropriate interventions.
• Support the management of safeguarding and welfare concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance and safeguarding records.
• Liaise with learners, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies.
• Conduct welfare checks and provide pastoral support where required.
• Promote a positive culture of attendance, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
• Produce attendance and safeguarding reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

This is a Grade 6, permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £34,237.

This is a permanent, full time role starting once all pre-employment checks have been completed.

Main purpose of the job:

To support learners by promoting excellent attendance, safeguarding their wellbeing, and ensuring any welfare concerns are identified, recorded, and addressed appropriately. The role will work closely with learners, families, staff, and external agencies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
