Job summary

Eden School is seeking a Safeguarding & Attendance Officer on a term-time permanent contract. The role aligns with the school’s safeguarding framework and aims to improve pupil attendance and attainment. The post carries an NJC salary scale and a 37-hour week within term time.

The successful candidate will act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, support staff in safeguarding practices, and work with external agencies as needed to protect pupils.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with pupils in an education or social care setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Experience of working with external agencies and making formal referrals.
  • Ability to relate to young people and understand their needs.
  • Ability to advise staff on safeguarding strategies and build relationships with families.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the school’s safeguarding procedures with DSL support.
  • Undertake duties of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
  • Support school in raising attendance and helping pupils to achieve.

Eden School seek to appoint a Safeguarding & Attendance Officer to start as soon as possible on a term time only permanent contract. The actual salary for this role is from £25,568 to £29,128 per annum.

What does this job do?
  • Develop and maintain the school’s safeguarding procedures and practices, with support from the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • This role will also undertake the responsibilities of a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
  • To support the school in raising attendance and helping young people to achieve.
  • To work within the Pupil Support Team in supporting pupils who are in school to achieve their potential.
What are the job requirements?
  • Experience of working with pupils in an education or social care setting
  • Excellent knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) to ensure effective procedures
  • Experience of working with external agencies, such as local authority child protection services and police, including making formal referrals
  • Ability to relate well to young people and to understand their needs
  • Ability to advise staff on safeguarding strategies
  • Understands the need for effective relationships with parents, carers, partners and the community which enhance and support pupils learning
