MASH Support Officer -Safeguarding

Salary - £31,015 - £33,699 (Grade 5)

Hours – 18.5 hours per week

We truly believe good social care can transform lives.

Why join us?

We’re not just another local authority. We’re a forward-thinking, responsive organisation with a clear vision: to empower our social workers to spend their time doing what matters most: connecting with people and families to support them to live their idea of a good life. We are proud of our:

  • Visible, supportive leadership: Our senior managers are approachable, responsive, and genuinely listen.
  • Strong social work development pathway: We offer a rich and responsive training programme tailored to the challenges of modern practice
  • Use of innovative approaches that work for you and people we support: we’re embracing innovation and technology to free up your time for meaningful work and help people live more independently

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment in our journey. We’ve reshaped our services into three new areas: Early Support, Ageing Well and Safeguarding, and Disabilities and Mental Health, based on what matters most to the people we support and the professionals who work with them, making sure people receive the right support, at the right time, by the right person.

This transformation is about more than structure; it’s about creating a service that’s fit for the future, focused on outcomes, and built on trust, respect, and collaboration. As a result, we are investing in our social work workforce and have a number of social work posts across the new service areas.

About The Role – Adult Safeguarding

This is your chance to thrive in a team that will empower you to play a vital role in helping people at a crucial time in their lives. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking, compassionate service that values your voice, nurtures your development, and champions your wellbeing, where no one day is the ever the same.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated support officers who are curious and non-judgemental about the different lives we all lead and can use a creative and person centred approach to working with individuals, families and carers.

Key priorities include:
  • Making safeguarding personal; understanding that people can have differing views on risk and safety, using a solution focused and trauma informed approach
  • Provide good quality, timely advice and information to people
  • Highlighting situations of high risk/urgency when receiving and processing safeguarding referrals
  • Collating information from a variety of sources to support informed decision making within the team, and documenting this accurately
  • Contributing to the development and new initiatives within the team

We use the Three Conversations approach, which is a strengths-based, person-centred approach that helps us think about: “What does a good life look like to you?” From there, we work together to ensure the support we offer is tailored, empowering, and safe, promoting choice, dignity, wellbeing, and independence.

In this role you will have the unique opportunity to specialise in safeguarding, developing your skills and confidence. If you’re curious, open to new ideas and committed to reducing harm, then we would love to hear from you!

You will:
  • Be dedicated to and passionate about working with adults where there are safeguarding concerns
  • Have a sound working knowledge of practice guidance and policies
  • Be professionally curious
  • Be confident in using a trauma informed approach
  • Be a team player
  • Have strong interpersonal, communication and IT skills
Ready to thrive? Here’s what you’ll enjoy:
  • Fantastic learning opportunities
  • Be part of a workplace that celebrates and prioritises equality and diversity, with four vibrant employee networks and equality forums
  • A strong focus on wellbeing and work-life balance, with access to a robust Employee Assistance Programme and a wide range of wellbeing resources
  • Supportive working arrangements, which includes some home working
