Job summary

CARDIFF CITY FC FOUNDATION is hiring a Designated Safeguarding Officer. The role focuses on promoting safeguarding across the Foundation, responding to concerns promptly, and ensuring proper records and escalation where needed.

You will work with the Head of Safeguarding & Compliance to maintain robust safeguarding practices across programmes and partnerships. The position requires strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, the ability to provide expert advice, and a commitment to safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Handle safeguarding concerns and case management within the Foundation.
• Act as designated point of contact for safeguarding concerns from staff, learners, participants, parents and partners.
• Respond promptly to concerns according to safeguarding procedures.
• Assess nature and level of concern; determine escalation.
• Record safeguarding concerns accurately on the Foundation’s system.
• Maintain oversight of open concerns and ensure timely actions.
• Escalate medium/high risk concerns to Head of Safeguarding and Compliance.
• Make or support referrals to statutory agencies as required.
• Share safeguarding information appropriately and proportionately.
• Provide day-to-day safeguarding advice to staff and managers.
• Support staff in responding to disclosures and incidents.
• Promote professional curiosity and challenge where needed.
• Support recruitment with safeguarding responsibilities and DBS monitoring.
• Contribute to safeguarding training and induction.
• Foster a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
• Develop relationships with schools, authorities and safeguarding partners.
• Attend multi-agency meetings and share safeguarding information with partners.
• Ensure safeguarding considerations are reflected in activity design and partnerships.
• Identify themes and risks requiring wider organisational action.
