Job summary

Witherslack Group is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead for Westmorland School to lead safeguarding efforts, coordinate with agencies and staff, and support wellbeing and child protection practices. The role requires a strong CPD portfolio and empathetic engagement with families.

Applicants should have at least three years in a DSL role, hold a UK driving licence, and be prepared to work across locations within the group. Salary reflects the senior safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

• DSL role experience and safeguarding expertise.
• Comprehensive CPD portfolio in Safeguarding and Child Protection.
• Outstanding interpersonal and problem‑resolution skills.
• Genuinely empathetic approach to working with children and families.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for safeguarding within the school, liaising daily with statutory and non‑statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding.
• Provide support, advice and expertise to staff and parents on safeguarding matters.
• Collaborate with the leadership team and Witherslack Group colleagues across locations to enable progress and development of safeguarding practice.
• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding investigations and reporting.
