Job summary

Westmorland School, part of the Witherslack Group, is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead. You will lead safeguarding across the school, liaising daily with statutory and non-statutory agencies, parents, carers and staff to safeguard wellbeing.

Designated Safeguarding Lead – Westmorland School (Witherslack Group)

Salary: £35,412 – £45,091. Applications close on Wednesday 26th August 2026.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for safeguarding within the school, liaising daily with statutory and non‑statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on matters of wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding.
• Provide support, advice and expertise to staff and parents on safeguarding matters.
• Collaborate with the leadership team and Witherslack Group colleagues across locations to enable progress and development of safeguarding practice.
• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding investigations and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience in a Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
• Comprehensive portfolio of continuing professional development related to Safeguarding and Child Protection.
• Outstanding interpersonal and problem‑resolution skills.
• Genuinely empathetic approach to working with children and families.
• Full UK driving licence.
