Job summary

North Star is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Officer to promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of all pupils across our school. You will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL to implement safeguarding procedures and support staff in safeguarding matters.

You will liaise with families, social care, health professionals and other agencies, maintain accurate safeguarding records, and contribute to audits and training.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families.
• Sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
• Excellent organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in safeguarding and child protection duties.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records and documentation.
• Monitor attendance, welfare concerns and respond to emerging risks.
• Liaise with children, families, social care and health professionals.
• Attend safeguarding meetings and contribute to multi-agency discussions.
• Provide guidance to staff on safeguarding referrals and processes.
• Support early intervention and pupil wellbeing initiatives.
• Contribute to safeguarding audits, policies and compliance.
