Job summary

North Star 265° seeks an experienced Safeguarding Officer to promote welfare, safety and wellbeing of all pupils across the school. Working with the DSL, DDSL and external agencies, you will support safeguarding procedures and ensure children receive protection and support.

This role requires strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent communication, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families within our school community.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children, young people and families.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
  • Resilient, proactive and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Manage and maintain accurate safeguarding records and documentation.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality and welfare concerns, identify risks.
  • Liaise with children, families, social care, health professionals and agencies.
  • Attend safeguarding meetings and multi-agency conferences.
  • Advise staff on safeguarding concerns and referral processes.
  • Support early intervention and pastoral strategies for pupil wellbeing.
  • Contribute to safeguarding audits, policy reviews and compliance.
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture throughout the school.
