Job summary

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Leighton Hospital in Crewe, invites applications for a Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) Nurse (Band 5). The post is part-time 14.45 hours per week, with duties in the Macmillan Cancer Unit and flexibility between 8am-8pm as the service expands.

Experience in cancer care and chemotherapy administration is essential; NHS pay scale £32,073-£39,043 per annum, with some weekend work anticipated as the service grows to deliver SACT closer to home.

Qualifications

• 18 months Experience working with Cancer patients.
• Ability to work in a small team.
• NMC Registration and Degree level module for Chemotherapy administration or SACT passport.
• Experience in cannulation, accessing CVADs, phlebotomy.
• Confidence to administer chemotherapy under nurse-led protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
• Involve patients, relatives and carers in delivery of care and provide reassurance.
• Prepare the clinical area for safe practice and ensure cleanliness and readiness of equipment.
• Provide escort and transfer for patients as directed by the MDT.
• Recognise and respond to urgent and emergency situations.
• Collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records.
