Job summary

South Eastern Regional College, Downpatrick Campus, is seeking a Technician in Carpentry & Joinery to join the team on a full-time permanent basis (36 hours per week).

The post holder will report to the Head of School and provide technical support and assistance to lecturers in the Carpentry & Joinery area, ensuring safety and workshop efficiency. A Level 3 apprenticeship and at least 3 years in carpentry are required.

Qualifications

• Have completed a Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery with certified documentation.
• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the Carpentry & Joinery industry.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety in a construction environment.
• Demonstrate effective organisational skills.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assistance to lecturers and courses in the Carpentry & Joinery curriculum area.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of School the post-holder will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to lecturers/courses in the relevant curriculum area.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Have completed a Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery with certified documentation
• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the Carpentry & Joinery industry
• Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience using woodworking machines in a workshop environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety in a construction environment
• Demonstrate effective organisational skills
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral
• Demonstrate competence in the use of Microsoft Office package.
