Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Software Engineer (Rust) to join a safety-critical systems team in Surrey. The role focuses on commercial Rust development across the software lifecycle, delivering high-integrity solutions in a structured engineering environment.

You will collaborate with software, systems and test engineers, contributing to requirements, development, integration and verification, while aligning with safety standards such as IEC 61508 and DO-178.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing software using Rust.
• Around 5 years' software engineering experience.
• Experience across requirements, development and/or test.
• Exposure to safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, ISO 26262, DEF STAN 00-55 or DO-178.
• A methodical approach to problem-solving and software quality.
• UK working rights, and the ability to gain BPSS security clearance

Responsibilities

• Involved throughout the software lifecycle with requirements, development, integration and verification.
• Collaborate with software, systems and test engineers to deliver high-integrity software.
• Work in defence/aerospace/rail/automotive safety standards contexts.
