Job summary

Dex is seeking a strong backend engineer to join a team building robust, fault-tolerant systems for real-time defence intelligence. You will work on a mission-critical Rust/Python stack, designing features and infrastructure that operate under extreme conditions with limited connectivity and untrusted networks.

You'll contribute to a distributed backend, focus on latency, edge computing, and reliability, and collaborate with open-source contributors while adhering to RFCs and rigorous code

Qualifications

• Backend development in a systems language (Rust/Java/Go/C++).
• Experience building distributed systems with focus on failure modes.
• Experience with edge computing or latency optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and infrastructure for a mission-critical backend.
• Engineer for extreme conditions: intermittent connectivity and embedded systems.
• Ensure robustness through testing and benchmarking.
• Contribute to a Rust and Python-based stack.
• Tackle complex distributed systems with partial degradation as default.
