Job summary

NCIC is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. The role involves supporting ED and SDEC, managing labour wards and gynae emergencies, and contributing to service development.

Fixed-term 6 months with 10 sessions per week, salary £63,696–£102,689 per annum. The ideal candidate will be medically qualified with MRCOG, full GMC registration, and substantial postgrad training.

Qualifications

• MBBS or recognised equivalent.
• MRCOG.
• Full GMC Registration.
• Four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) in a relevant specialty, including at least two years in a specialty training programme.

Responsibilities

• Manage the labour ward and the gynae emergencies with the support of the obstetrics and gynaecology consultant.
• Be the point of contact for the ED and SDEC departments to ensure the Gynaecology & Obstetrics patients are seen, providing in-reach support.
• Work with professional colleagues and managers to ensure the efficient running of services.
• Work closely with other specialist teams.
• Assist with service improvements and the development of business plans to inform the future strategic direction.
• Participate in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the Trust.
• Share with colleagues the role of educational or clinical supervisor to junior doctors in training, including induction, supportive formal appraisals, supervision of learning portfolios, and career advice as appropriate.
• Provide bedside and teaching for Junior Doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in a Friday afternoon formal teaching rota based on RCOG curriculum, new guidelines and research.
• Assist in PROMPT course training annually
• Undertake personal development and mandatory training
