We currently have an exciting new opportunity to join our Litigation Team at DLG Legal Services as an RTA/EL/PL Claims Handler. This is a full-time, permanent position, based at our Bromley or Leeds office (hybrid working).

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Litigation Team Leader, you will handle a caseload of Claimant Employers Liability claims, Personal Liability claims, and unusual Road Traffic Accidents such as Pedestrian or Cyclist claims.

  • Managing a client’s claim by applying the firm’s technical processes, accurately documenting activities, and recording time.
  • Investigating the circumstances of incidents, assessing the value of claims, conducting legal research, reviewing evidence, and evaluating the prospects and merits of each claim.
  • Providing clients with accurate legal advice, managing expectations, explaining decisions clearly, and ensuring fair treatment.
  • Negotiating settlements on favorable terms, updating legal expenses providers, and ensuring instructions are followed.
  • Drafting court documents, complying with court directions, preparing statements, instructing counsel, and managing costs.
  • Handling cases efficiently to meet departmental targets and keeping clients informed proactively.
  • Investigating conflicts, complaints, or potential negligence, and reporting them promptly.
  • Maintaining good working relationships within the team and with external partners.
  • Supporting departmental development and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Experienced Claims Handler, Legal Executive, or Solicitor.
  • Previous experience with RTA / EL / PL claims, preferably within an insurance or law firm environment.
  • Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocols, CPR, Practice Directions, relevant statutes, and case law related to accidents at work.
  • Experience with Case Management Systems, knowledge of JC Guidelines for damages assessment, and research skills using resources like Lawtel.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.

Home Working: Hybrid model (2 days in-office, 3 days remote)
