Rough Sleeping Outreach and Support Officer role in Waltham Forest is inviting a proactive, compassionate candidate to deliver assertive outreach to individuals sleeping rough or at risk, helping them access support and move toward stability.

You will work across the borough with partner agencies to provide ongoing support as individuals move into temporary accommodation or independent living, while maintaining detailed case records to inform planning.

Competenze

• Experience working with homeless households or vulnerable adults.
• Understanding causes of homelessness and barriers to housing.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Compassionate, trauma-informed approach.
• Ability to assess needs and respond to safeguarding concerns.

Mansioni

• Conduct regular street outreach sessions to engage individuals sleeping rough.
• Carry out welfare and safety checks in response to reports.
• Build trusting relationships using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.
• Assess housing, health and welfare needs and risks.
• Provide advice, signposting and referrals to relevant services.
• Collaborate with housing teams, health services and partners to secure accommodation.
• Support individuals to move away from rough sleeping and into suitable housing.
• Deliver resettlement and tenancy sustainment support.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and respond to risks.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to support planning.
