Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and well‑motivated Physiotherapists to join our junior rotational programme across both in‑patient and out‑patient settings across Frimley and community.

Rotations (4 months each)

At Frimley Trust, we promise to provide a supportive transition to the workplace, through the launch of our Multi‑professional Preceptorship program which started in September 2024. This program is run in partnership with the clinical education directorate and Therapies department. It provides protected opportunities for training, supervision, networking and education, to enable our staff to reach their full potential and adjust well into their new working environment.

Under the guidance of an experienced team you will have the opportunity to develop both clinically and managerially within a friendly and supportive environment where excellence is encouraged. You will receive regular support, supervision and training and be passionate about MDT working and service development.

Required to attend a face‑to‑face interview and be ready to start immediately; we will keep suitable candidates on hold for the next 6 months for future vacancies. This vacancy may close early if a high number of applicants are received.

Main Duties
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to developing clinical expertise.
  • Be proactive, use initiative and possess strong organisational skills to effectively prioritise and manage caseload.
  • Once trained and deemed competent, participate in weekend working, seven‑day services, extended hours (dependent on rotation), and the on‑call rota.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with diverse presentation/multi‑pathologies, using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis.
  • Formulate soundly reasoned prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing negotiated goals leading to comprehensive discharge plans.
  • Take delegated responsibility from Senior physiotherapist for managing patients with particular conditions and provide assessment and treatment plans within each rotation.
  • Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes.
  • Involved in teaching, planning and clinical supervision of physiotherapy technical instructors and assistants.
  • Work as part of physiotherapy team providing weekend service as required in each clinical area.
  • Use verbal and non‑verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes, ensuring understanding and supporting self‑management.
  • Communicate patient‑related information effectively, ensuring collaborative working with the MDT.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation in line with legal and departmental requirements and communicate assessment and treatment results through reports and letters.
  • Ensure own practice and that of staff under supervision meet required professional standards of physiotherapy practice.
  • Organise and plan own caseload to meet service and patient priorities, readjusting plans as situations change or arise.
  • Supervise and coordinate physiotherapy technical instructors and assistants on a daily basis.
  • Ensure safe and competent use of gym, hydrotherapy and electrotherapy equipment by patients.
