Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a pharmacy technician for a rotational post within the pharmacy department. The role offers exposure to dispensing, ward-based work, aseptic services, clinical trials and procurement, with supervision of assistants and students.

GPhC registration or eligibility within six months is required. Flexibility of hours is essential to support the main dispensary's extended-hours service; hospital experience is desirable and pre-registration candidates may be

Qualifications

• GPhC registration or eligibility to register within 6 months
• Proven pharmacy experience as a student or qualified technician
• Total flexibility of working hours
• Experience in dispensing or ward-based pharmacy services (advantage)

Responsibilities

• Taking drug histories and assessing patients' own drugs
• Supplying, dispensing and issuing medicines across in-patient dispensary and ward areas
• Final accuracy checking of dispensed items for inpatients, discharges and controlled drugs (ACT)
• Procurement, preparative services, distribution and stock control across the Trust
• Aseptic services and clinical trials work
• Supporting the main dispensary's extended-hours service
• Supervising and training assistants and students
• Undertaking further training to advance the technician role across the department
