Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a pharmacy technician for a rotational post within the pharmacy department. The role offers exposure to dispensing, ward-based work, aseptic services, clinical trials and procurement, with supervision of assistants and students.

Responsibilities

• Taking drug histories and assessing patients' own drugs
• Supplying, dispensing and issuing medicines across in-patient dispensary and ward areas
• Final accuracy checking of dispensed items for inpatients, discharges and controlled drugs (ACT)
• Procurement, preparative services, distribution and stock control across the Trust
• Aseptic services and clinical trials work
• Supporting the main dispensary's extended-hours service
• Supervising and training assistants and students
• Undertaking further training to advance the technician role across the department

Job description

The post needs total flexibility of hours, with support for the main dispensary's extended-hours service. GPhC registration, or the ability to register within six months, is required, and pre-registration technicians are considered.

What the job involves

What’s required

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, or equivalent

Registration & licences

• GPhC registration, or the ability to register within the next 6 months

Experience

• Proven pharmacy experience as a student or qualified technician, delivering pharmaceutical services in a pharmacy environment
