Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust in Stafford is seeking an experienced or newly qualified Pharmacy Technician to join a dynamic team during the EPMA rollout. The role offers rotation across pharmacy services, with emphasis on medicines optimisation, stock control, and staff training.

You should be detail-oriented, accurate, and adaptable, capable of following procedures and working under supervision to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or National BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent nationally recognised qualification plus Accredited underpinning knowledge.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• National Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification or requirement to undertake.
• Expert Witness/A1 NVQ Assessor Qualification or willing to undertake.
• Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in either a hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy setting.
• Commitment and evidence of professional updating and continuous professional development.
• Patient counselling skills and knowledge of medicines; assessing pharmaceutical care needs.
• Supervisory skills to supervise Pharmacy Assistants and Student Pharmacy Technicians.
• Computer literacy with pharmacy systems; ordering/receiving stock; rectifying discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing controlled drugs using electronic registers from automated storage cabinets.
• Providing a theatre CD top up and replenishment service.
• Gaining experience in IT Systems including Ascribe, Automated dispensing (RSUH) & Prescription Tracking.
• Maintaining good stock control of medicines.
• Medicines optimisation on wards.
• Supporting and training staff.
