NHS National Services Scotland seeks a highly motivated pharmacy support worker for its cancer pharmacy team. The role involves dispensing, aseptic work, and supporting the team in various functions. Candidates must possess NVQ2 in pharmacy services and prior experience in pharmacy settings, demonstrating strong organisational and communication skills.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy support worker to join our cancer pharmacy team. The role involves working within dispensing and aseptic areas, with opportunities to gain experience in pharmacy stores, outpatient, and ward areas. Candidates should be flexible, organized, team-oriented, and possess a positive attitude. Prior pharmacy experience is essential, along with excellent communication skills and an NVQ2 qualification in pharmacy services or progress towards it. The position requires participation in weekend and public holiday rotas.
The job entails rotating through the dispensary and the sterile aseptic unit, supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Responsibilities include dispensing chemotherapy and medicines for side effect management, stock control, coordinating medicine delivery, environmental monitoring, and assembly and transfer of aseptic products, as well as administrative duties.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must adhere to high standards of discipline and hygiene, following standard operating procedures and clean room protocols. Full aseptic training will be provided.
